  • Affordable Care Act (ACA) – The Affordable Care Act, or ACA, stands as a cornerstone with its comprehensive set of requirements such as the type of affordability of health coverage provided, dollar thresholds, out-of-pocket limits, treatment of preexisting conditions, coverage for preventive care services, participation in clinical trials, inclusion of dependents, and ensuring patient protections in selecting healthcare providers.For large employers, understanding and adhering to ACA regulation is paramount, as non-compliance can lead to significant penalties. 
  • Employer Mandate – Employers with 50 or more full-time and/or FTE employees must offer affordable/minimum value medical coverage to their full-time employees and their dependents up to the end of the month in which they turn 26, or they may be subject to penalties.
  • Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) – COBRA requires employers of 20 or more full time equivalent employees to offer their employees the opportunity to continue their group healthcare coverage under the employer’s plan if their coverage ends due to employee termination, layoff or certain other employment status changes (referred to as “qualifying Events”).
